Know your worth.
One of the most memorable times I had in Greece on the MDFVoyage was visiting the Greek island of Nisyros. I call it “Heaven on Earth.” Why? Well take a look?
The island of Nisiros is a volcanic island in the Aegean Sea. It is also known for its breathtaking Greek Orthodox churches.
Inside the Greek Orthodox Church. The artwork was breathtaking!
While visiting this island, our fearless tour guide Ali, took us on a 4,000 mile high elevation to see this gorgeous Greek Orthodox church. I must admit, I didn’t think we would make it up or down the mountain because the road to this church was a simple dirt road with no railings. Yikes! I was literally crying and calling on “Jesus.” No lie. We even passed a slower car on the narrow road. The road was so narrow, in America we would call it a single lane….not double. I cried.
But the terrifying fear going up the mountain was worth it. Have you ever in life seen anything like this???
Our driver, Stavros, was literally Adonis in the flesh. All the women on the excursion, young and old, were salivating. Like really?? Thank God he was an excellent driver. And ladies a lot of the men on the island looked just like him…Spartan.
We also visited the crater of the volcano. Yes, we went deep into the crater and it smelled like sulfur. Not a pleasant smell and it was hot in the crater, but how many people can say they walked the crater floor of a volcano? Priceless.
Nisyros, Greece was most memorable because:
1. I had to face my fear of heights and put my life in control of our driver. I just had to let go.
2. I had great Calamari on the island.
3. The Greek Orthodox Church in the Sky, was stunning.
4. The island is the prettiest island we visited.
5. Adonis! LOL!
If you trust God, you never have to worry.
I previously wrote about my experience at the 2015 Further with Ford Trends Silicon Valley, CA conference. Fabulous!
Our last day in San Francisco with Ford was spent testing out brand new 2015 Ford vehicles driving around San Francisco.
I hopped into a 2015 Ford Escape with Kimberly from Speed Beautiful, Tony from Urban Professor, and Liz from Times Square Chronicles. We were a fun crew! We were so hyped to tour San Francisco, which is such a stunning city, and take in all of the sites.
Our first stop on our scenic tour was the Golden Gate bridge. The Golden Gate bridge is such a landmark. I have been to San Francisco many times and I never get tired of seeing it. We crossed the bridge and parked on the side to take in the awesomeness of the bridge and the city.
I was literally sitting there and thinking I was so blessed to be there at that moment. I could have sat there all day.
Our next stop was the Painted Lady Houses. These are historic Victorian houses in the city. At the park across from the houses, you can get some good views of the city.
More fun pics!
Ford also treated us to amazing bites as we tested Ford vehicles. These donuts were simply divine. Done.
Do not be paralyzed by fear.
Last week I had the amazing opportunity to attend the 2015 Further With Ford Trends Silicon Valley conference.
Ford has hosted this conference for the past five years and this year the conference focused on Ford’s Smart Mobility Plans.
Ford invited hundreds of journalist and influencers from around the world to attend this conference.
I arrived in San Francisco and was greeted by my personal Ford driver. I was escorted to my hotel in San Francisco in the new 2015 Ford Explorer. Lush and luxe!
I had a few hours to walk around Union Square and had a chance to check out one of the many hearts on display in San Francisco as part of the “Hearts in San Francisco” project which will benefit The San Francisco General Hospital.
I love love!
Our first official event as part of the 2015 Further With Ford Trends-Silicon Valley, CA was a keynote presentation by Ford CEO, Mark Fields, and dinner at Pier 57.
My dinner attire!
Here are some of the key points and initiatives Mr. Fields discussed that evening:
1. GoDrive- This is an on-demand car-sharing pilot with a pay as you go approach. It offers one-way trips with guaranteed parking.
2. InfoCycle- This programs uses bikes so both consumers and cities can use data from bike sensors. This data will be combined with vehicle data to analyze road quality for drivers.
2. Data-driven insurance-This initiative creates driver profiles based on behavior behind the wheel and shares this information with insurance providers and rental car companies for more personalized, and hopefully discounted rates. Fabulous!
The next day of the 2015 Further With Ford Trends Conference took us to the famous Silicon Valley to learn more about Ford’s Innovation and Research projects while also visiting Hewlitt-Packard and SAP.
When we arrived at Hewlitt-Packard we were treated to a welcome message by the CEO of Hewlitt-Packard, Meg Whitman. Talk about major!!!! She is a legend in the tech world.
FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE CITIES
The first session discussed the future of sustainable cities. We learned of various initiative to handle congestions and limited resources in urban dwellings. One of the innovators and leaders in this initiative is Pashon Murray, Co-Founder of Detroit Dirt. Pashon is from Detroit and she has made it her mission to revitalize neighborhoods in Detroit by finding solutions to reuse or recycle everyday waste and reduce landfill use.
Another notable presentation discussing the future of sustainable cities, was given by Mike Tinskey, Global Director, Electrification & Infrastructure, Ford Motor Company. He discussed the benefits of electric cars. Notably, how these cars are good for the environment.
THE AUTOMATION EFFECT
The next session discussed the automation effect. Particularly the future of self-driving cars. Wowza. Ken Washington, Vice-Preisent, Research and Advanced Engineering at Ford, discussed some of the “automation” technology currently available in Ford vehicles. such as driver-assist, lane-keeping, blind-spot alert (my favorite!) and adaptive control. The question is are we ready for totally self-driving vehicles? Well Divas hold your horses, because the technology is already here and coming soon!
THE ABCs OF XYZ
Our last session at Hewlitt-Packard discussed the influence of the Z generation on innovation and technology. The Z generation is young consumers, some still in their teens. These consumers have lived their life in the digital age and it influences how they communicate with each other and brands. So true!
This session was the most exciting! It included presentations from Susan Paley, former CEO and Co-Founder of Beats by Dre, Alexis Ohanian, Co-Founder of Reddit and my shero Sophia Amoruso, Founder and Creative director of Nasty Gal. I was literally swooning. Here are a few key points from each speaker:
Susan Paley, Beats by Dre: “Beat By Dre was created because we wanted to put the emotion back into music.” Credits athletes with making Beats By Dre a global phenomenon.
Alexis Ohanian, Co-Founder of Reddit: ” Discovered the Internet when he was 9 and it made him feel so powerful with all of the information available. He started building websites at the age of 9 and now is a motivational speaker.
I love this quote he put up on the board:
Done and done.
Sophia Amoruso, Founder and Creative Director of Nasty Gal: learn as much as you can about your passion or business and work incredibly hard. Her book #GirlBoss is a must. It is so motivating!
We later visited SAP and Ford’s Research and Innovation Center.
We had a chance to check out the Ford GT Supercar. Hotness!
We also learned about some of Ford’s new innovations such as Smart Park, The Internet of Transportation, 3-D printing and my favorite peer-to-peer car sharing. I was particularly interested in how ford is using 3-D printing. My son is obsessed with 3-D printing. Ford uses 3-D printing to create prototypes and develop new technologies quickly.
Check back tomorrow as I share scenic pictures of San Francisco I was able to capture while driving Ford vehicles. Stunning.
Disclaimer: All airfare and accommodations were provided complimentary via Ford. However, all opinions are my own.
Every morning I ask God for his absolute best for me in all aspects of my life. God’s best is so much better than what we think is best for us!
After our first adventure on Rhodes Island, Greece, we set sail the next morning for the stunning island of Symi. Symi Island is known for its stunning colorful neoclassical mansions covering the slopes near the main city. The juxtaposition of the vibrant houses against the varying blues and greens of the Mediterranean Sea makes this island quite breathtaking!
Our first adventure in Symi was to snorkel and swim in Symi cove. Now I am not a swimmer…at all. Plus I have never had the opportunity to snorkel. But I had to push through my fear and at least give it a try. I really wanted to be brave and try every new and wonderful experience on this trip. I made it all the way here and I was not going to be afraid!
After snorkeling in Symi Cove, we had a fabulous Mediterranean lunch prepared by the yacht’s chef and we packed up to hike the island. While on our hike, we were able to see some of the many churches and chapels on the island dating back to the Byzantine era.
We also saw the historic Monastery of the Archangel Michael Panormitis. This Greek Orthodox monastery was built on the southwest coast in the early 18th century. It overlooks a bay, and is still inhabited by monks.
Later that evening we visited Taki’s a world-famous leather maker for a little shopping. Taki makes all the items hand-made and uses the best quality leather. Tom Hanks is a fan! I did purchase a pair of fabulous gold sandals. Pictures to come!
Symi Island was one of my favorite Greek islands on the Mediterranean Delights Fitness Voyage. It was the most beautiful and I conquered my fear of the Sea!
Check back for my next adventure on the island of Kos!
Buying lingerie can be a quick and easy process when you’re just going for the basics. For everyday needs, a lot of women will just settle on something simple, affordable, and comfortable and be done with it. But everyone likes to have a few bedroom outfits and everyday undergarments that go beyond basic to make a sexy statement, and for these bits of lingerie, a little more of a process is required.
To some extent, all you need to find your very best lingerie sets is due diligence; that is, be patient and thorough and you’ll probably find something you’re very happy with. But if you’ve never thought much about the specific strategies of finding your favorite lingerie, here are a few tips to consider.
These days, there’s always a temptation to do our shopping online. It’s so incredibly easy to do a quick search, pick a size, and click “check out,” especially when we’re able to store our payment and shipping information on our favorite sites! But because there can be so much variation in how different garments fit and feel from different designers and providers, this is ultimately a great way to get lingerie that ends up being just OK. Sure, you can order, try on, send back, and repeat, but isn’t that more hassle than just spending an hour at the mall? Shopping in-person, for lingerie, allows you to try on as many garments as you want looking for that perfect blend of comfort and sexiness that will keep you happy with your purchase.
Don’t Distract With Color
This is a tip mentioned in an article at YourTango.com about how to choose lingerie that men will love. Basically, the idea heeded advice from men, which was that simple, neutral colors are sometimes best, because they can accent your body and show you off without becoming distracting. On the other hand, nude colors can blend in somewhat awkwardly, and brighter shades can be glaring. Now, talking about how to drive men crazy with lingerie can be fun, but really it’s more important to find something youwill be happy wearing—so if you prefer nudes or bright flashy colors, go for it. But if you’re looking for your most flattering lingerie set, keep in mind the basic advice that too much or too little color can be distracting.
Identify Your Body Type
This probably sounds like pretty basic advice, but really, a lot of women will spend hours looking for the most flattering styles and individual pieces at random, instead of identifying their body types and shopping accordingly. Shopping to fit your body can help you to find a lot more options that will be both comfortable and flattering. AdamEve.com has a very helpful guide for this sort of shopping, not only helping to identify different body types, but also recommending different lingerie for the various types. For example, it’s mentioned that pear shaped women tend to look great in babydolls and chemises, and that an “upside down” pear shape does well with bustiers and camisoles. To be clear, no one is suggesting that your body type should exclusively limit you to a few styles; but going into your shopping with an idea of body type fits can give you a very useful perspective.
Show Off What You Want
Above all else, this is the most important tip for finding the best lingerie for you: shop for items that will emphasize the parts of your body you want to show off! This is a tip highlighted in an article at SheKnows.com, in which there’s some discussion of shopping for body type, but ultimately an emphasis on comfort and personal security. “Where what you feel good in,” the article recommends succinctly, and we’d second the notion. A great set of lingerie should make you feel sexy and confident, and the best way to do that is often to shop for garments that highlight your own favorite features.

Life is what you make it. Make it fabulous!
I have just returned from my 9 day trip to Greece and Turkey.
Per my previous post, I took this trip to Greece via The Mediterranean Delights Fitness Voyage. This voyage includes sailing the Mediterranean Sea and visiting several Greek islands along the way.
I flew from Athens to Rhodes Island via Aegean Airlines. I have never boarded a plane on the tarmac and it was pretty exciting.
We boarded the boat in the port on Rhodes Island. While in Rhodes, we had an amazing opportunity to tour the island and learn a bit of the island’s fascinating history.
Me wearing my DVF vintage shop dress, fedora hat from Target, and sandals from Fabrik!
The island of Rhodes is known for its preservation of Medieval architecture and history. Led by our #MDFVoyage2015 tour guide, Ali, our first activity was to walk from our boat to the Palace of the Grand Master.
The Palace of the Grand Master is one of the oldest castles and in-tact moats in all of Europe. It is majestic!
We also strolled along the preserved cobble stoned, Street of the Knights. This street housed inns and establishments that catered to Medieval Knights.
Further down the Street of the Knights is the Museum Square. There stands the Hospital of the Knights, which houses the Archaeological Museum.
Towards the center of Old Town there are lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. This area was lively and fun!
Here are more pictures!
After our visit in Rhodes, we boarded the boat and set sail for the Island of Symi. Check back to tomorrow to see and learn of my adventures there!
Dreams do come true!
And speaking of dreams coming true, currently I am out of the country sailing the Mediterranean Sea visiting the Greek Isles and Turkey. Somebody pinch me!
I was invited to join the Mediterranean Delights Fitness Voyage back in Fall 2104. I must admit, I was reluctant. Why? I have never traveled so far to reach any destination, I don’t like flying and I am not a swimmer so I was not sure a yacht cruise would be a good fit for me.
However, Cynthia, the curator of the #MDFVogage, contacted me again in the Winter/Spring and asked if I would like to join one of the voyages in the Summer. Although I still was a bit nervous, I agreed, plus I was thinking Summer is a long ways away, so if I wanted to cancel or back out I could.
One of my mottos that I keep on my vision board is to not be paralyzed by fear. I realized, I was letting my fear control my perceptions about this trip and it was an opportunity of a lifetime. So I got myself ready to go!
And Divas I am so glad I did. This trip has been life changing. I am currently on Day 4 of the #MDFVoyage and I have been to Athens, Greece, Symi Island, Greece, and Datca, Turkey. I never dreamed in a million years I would visit Turkey. Priceless!
I want to share a few pictures from my one night stay in Athens, Greece before I departed to Rhodes island, Greece for the voyage. Greece is a beautiful country. The pictures below include The Parthenon, Dionys Theatre, First Olympic Stadium, Zues’ temple, Athena’s temple. Athens City Views!
I will have a full re-cap of my experiences when I return next week!
Disclaimer: Mediterranean Delights Fitness Voyage provided the yacht cruise complimentary. However, all opinions are my own.
Every morning I wake up and surrender to God. When you surrender you know God is control guiding your life and everything happens as it should. Trust HIM!
I am in love with a new lip balm: Balm Chicky Balm Balm.
First I just love the name, Balm Chicky Balm Balm sounds like a clever hook to a song. 🙂
Balm Chicky Balm Balm is unique in several ways. It comes in a fat tube so you get a lot of lip balm for your money. As an added bonus, it has the “friend end.” The balm has two ends to the package. The regular end holds 3x as much lip balm as a regular tube of lip balm. The other end of tube holds a snap cap full of lip balm that you can share with a friend. The Friend End allows you to share your lip balm with a friend without sharing germs. Genius!
Balm Chicky Balm Balm also comes in several yummy flavors. Juicy Melons (my fav), Sweet Baby Ginger, and Hot Chocolate Love. Love the names too!
More importantly, the lip balm is super moisturizing on the lips. I only have to apply the lip balm in the morning and maybe in the evening and it keeps my lips super moisturized. Fabulous!
You can find Balm Chicky Balm Balm online or at several Target stores. It retails for only $7!
Life is not perfect. But when you start focusing on your blessings, you realize that Life is still Good!
Divas I must confess I have never heard of the Atlanta Moon Ride until now.
The Atlanta Moon Ride, now in its 3rd year, is a 6.5 mile night cycling event where participants are encouraged to ride with flair, dress in costume and cruise through some of Atlanta’s coolest neighborhoods at night. The Atlanta Moon Ride is so popular it has grown to almost 3000 participants in its first two years.
The great thing about the Atlanta Moon Ride is that is supports a great cause. All proceeds from the Atlanta Moon Ride will support the work of Bert’s Big Adventure, a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.
Also, W Atlanta – Midtown
is offering discounted rates for Atlanta Moon Ride participants! Guests can make a weekend out of the festivities at the hotel, featuring discounted rooms for $138 per night. For more information, click here
This looks like so much fun. I may have to dust off my bike and participate. 🙂
I saw this quote on Pinterest and I love it! “Nobody is just too busy, its just a matter of priorities.”
One of my favorite luxe charities, Bert’s Big Adventure, has teamed up with Moe’s Southwest Grill to raise money to further its mission to provide chronically and terminally ill children and their family a once in a lifetime dream vacation to Disney World!
When you dine out at any Moe’s locations on Wednesdays for the month of June, starting today June 3, 10% of the total sales from the day go back to Bert’s Big Adventure. This includes June 3, 10, 17, and 24.
