One of my favorite automobile brands, Ford Motor Company, has partnered with PBS for the second season of “Finding Your Roots” with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. This critically acclaimed series traces the roots of famous individuals as well as non-famous individuals. Celebrities such as Oprah, Chris Rock, and Stephen King have participated in this series. The new series will air Tuesday, September 23 at 8pm ET.

“This is one of the most fascinating ways history is uncovered, a true example of the significance our past plays in where we are today,” said Shawn Thompson, manager, Ford Multicultural Marketing. “The role Professor Gates is undertaking to show how all Americans are connected is something we – as a company – can stand by. Ford is thrilled to be a part of this project.”
During each episode, Ford will also hair 30 second spots tracing the history and origins of Henry Ford, the creator and founder of the company. It should be noted that one of Henry Ford’s lasting legacies was his willingness to pay a fair wage to African-American workers employed in his factories. This led to Southern sharecroppers leaving the deep south to Detroit in search of a better life.
In collaboration with their support of “Finding Your Roots”, Ford will launch an original digital content series on YouTube. This series will highlight individual user stories as the featured guests share the impact their family history has had on their lives.
Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET and will run until Tuesday, Nov. 25.
