Luxetips Events! The Ford Neighborhood Awards: Celebrating Heros in the Community
Always give with a pure heart and watch blessings flow.
The Neighborhood Awards is an annual awards show where community business, education and political leaders are honored for giving back and supporting their communities.
This is Ford’s 9th year as a sponsor of the Neighborhood Awards. Ford’s involvement includes presenting the winner of the “Community Leader of the Year Award” with a check for $30,000 to be used as a donation to his or her non-profit organization of choice in order to further community efforts within the winner’s hometown.
This year’s winner of the “Community Leader of the Year Award” was Atlanta’s very own, James L. Jones Sr., founder and chairman of Simply United Together. He was presented a $30,000 check to help his organization go further. Shawn Thompson, Ford Multicultural Marketing Manager, presented the check alongside Anthony Anderson and Shirley Strawberry.
The Neighborhood Awards weekend was filled with many fun activities such as Ford Ride and Drives, the Expo, the awards show and of course the after parties.

The show! It was super fab! Steve Harvey was simply hilarious! I was in tears all night. But more importantly, I enjoyed watching regular folks making a difference in their communities receive recognition. So much love in the building!
Babyface opened the show and did a full concert. He was AMAZING!
The absolute highlight of the show was when Tamela Mann got up our of her seat and sang an impromptu performance of her Gospel hit “Take Me To The King.” Done and Done. She set Phillips Arena on fire. It was not planned and priceless. I love her!
