Luxetips Events! Tour of Sweetwater Brewery: Atlanta Luxe Beer!
Sometimes you just have to surrender and trust the process!
I am a native Atlanta girl and I am ashamed to admit I have never been to the Sweetwater Brewery right here in the heart of Atlanta.
Now I have had many Sweetwater brews in my day. My favorite being the Sweetwater Blue…flavored with blueberries…um yum!
So when I was invited to tour the facility to get an up close and personal look into how the brews are made which included a tasting, I was like…yeah!!
When I checked into the tour, I was greeted by the cheerful Sweetwater employees and given a 12oz signature Sweetwater pint glass with my redemption card. The redemption card is for the tasting.. You can redeem two stickers on the redemption card for a full pint size glass of Sweetwater brew or just one sticker for a half glass…6 oz. The glass is a keepsake and so cool!
I sipped a 6 oz glass of the 420 brew and soon thereafter the tour began!
Our fearless tour guide gave us a colorful, funny and very informative history on the Sweetwater brand.
Sweetwater brew was started in in Boulder, Colorado in the early 90′s by Freddy Bensch and Kevin McNerney who were roommates at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
In the summer of 1996, the two friends made their way to Atlanta via the Olympics. They scraped together (with the help of generous friends, family and loans) just enough money go get started and the first brewery for SweetWater was off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard, on Atlanta’s west side. As they were building their very own brewery, Freddy sought a little cool relief by kayaking down Sweetwater Creek, in a state park just west of the brewery. The name of the brewery became obvious and the motto “Don’t Float the Mainstream” became the guide.
A tour of the Sweetwater brewery is a must! The crowd is lively and fun and the beer is sooo good. I mean it is the freshest beer you probably will ever taste! The cost for the tour is $10 and here is their Holiday Tour schedule:
