Luxetips Travel! History, Hiking and Great Food on the Greek Isle of Patmos

Hello Divas!

You only have one life to live.  Live the life you want!

After spending the day and night in the harbor in Santorini with MDFVoyage, we embarked on our next adventure to the beautiful and peaceful island of Patmos.

Patmos is historically significant as it is the place where John of Patmos received the vision from God to write the Book of Revelations.  As you can imagine, this is a significant pilgrimage destination for Christians and a fortresslike, 11th-century monastery dedicated to the saint overlooks the whitewashed houses of the hilltop capital, Hora (also known as Chora).

Our day started off with a hike to the sacred monastery.  This monastery is located at the highest point of Patmos and the hike was a challenge!  The only thing that kept me going was the absolute stunning views of Patmos.

Once we reached the monastery there were no pictures allowed!  LOL!  But the monastery is absolutely beautiful and serene and has many beautiful paintings and alters dedicated to St. John.

Once we viewed the monastery and visited the museum, we had a roof top refreshments with the most amazing view.  Fab!

Once we made it back down the mountain, we ventured back to the yacht for swimming and a cooking class.

We made stuffed green peppers or Dolma for our dinner that night.  The green peppers were so green and crisp!  We stuffed the peppers with savory rice and fresh tomatoes.  So yum!

More importantly we ate a very healthy and organic Mediterranean diet that included lots of fresh vegetables, delicious cheese, freshly caught fish, homemade breads, lentils and various proteins.  Divas, believe me when I tell you this diet is the truth!  It is delicious refreshing and good for the body.  And yes my body noticed.  I lost weight with this diet and my body felt lighter and I had more energy!

Check out some of our delicious meals!

After our cooking class, we swame in Paradisi Cove located on Patmos.  This cove is simply stunning.  The water is turquoise and a beautiful sea green.  We all swam from the yacht to the cove to just sit, hear the ocean and take in the beauty of our surroundings.  Heaven.

Afterwards we ventured back to the boat to have dinner, engage in evening fitness and relax.
